meat is made out of animals

Why do we pamper one animal and see another as a product? That's a question I often ask myself. A sausage once was a pig, with as much feeling and consciousness as a dog. Why do we eat huge amounts of pigs, but won't we even think of eating dogs? And why don't we treat the animals we eat the same way as our pets? Doesn't a chicken deserve it to get as much comfort and attention as a canary?
I tried to visualize these questions in a photo series, in which I display meat products as pets.

All photographs are made in my studio. Every object is real, except for the meat, which is AI-generated, because I did't want to waste any meat. By using Photoshop, I placed the meat into the photographs.
