SURREAL STILL LIFES
Autonomous work - ongoing photo project (started in 2015)

In this photo series, I tell stories by using everyday objects. By altering their function or placing them in unexpected contexts, I explore how ordinary materials can take on new meanings. This results in a leek with curlers, a typewriter with a computer mouse and a hole-punch with a slice of cheese. I draw inspiration from the impossible combinations in surreal art, which you can find in the paintings by Magritte, or the ready mades of Man Ray. Through photography, I capture my own contemporary surreal scenes, which are often referring to the spirit of the times.
