AboutMy work can be recognized by vivid colors, playfulness and clean compositions. From my studio in the Schinkelbuurt (Amsterdam), I work on autonomous projects, but also take on commissioned work. My experience includes visual campaigns, photo illustration, animation, and product photography, often combined with graphic design. I find it important that my work is clear at a glance, without explanation. I preferably work on projects that contribute to a happy, green and friendly society.
In my autonomous work, I often tell stories by using everyday objects. By altering their function or placing them in unexpected contexts, I explore how ordinary materials can take on new meanings. For example, in my photo series Surreal Still Lifes (2015-2026), you can find a leek with curlers, a typewriter with a computer mouse and a hole-punch with a slice of cheese. I draw inspiration from the impossibilities in the work of Magritte and the conceptual ready mades of Duchamp. Through photography, I capture my own contemporary surreal scenes. Besides Surrealism, humour plays an important role in my work, making complex or uncomfortable subjects more approachable. For example, in my photo series Keep on dreaming (2023), which is a critique of the housing market, I photographed myself moving into a dollhouse: the only affordable house I could find in Amsterdam. I find it important that the message of my work is clear at a glance, without any textual explanation.
